6/13: Bay Cities F.C. Women Unable To Get A Result Game 1 Of Summer Tour

REDWOOD CITY, CA- Bay Cities F.C. took the field for the first time at Sequoia High School to play their first match of their 2021 Summer Tour but were unable to get the result versus De Anza Force U19 ECNL.

Bay Cities F.C. Women took the field in their white kits and were in control of the first half. To close out the half, Bay Cities Women’s was up 1-0 courtesy of Jillienne Aguilera putting away a goal with an assist from captain Sam Tran in the 5th minute.

De Anza Force U19 came out to play in the second half. They were given a penalty kick and equalized within the first few minutes of the half. It was evident that this gave them the momentum to put a game winner in with the Bay Cities F.C. defense struggling to keep the offensive push out. Force was able to put in the winner in minute 83 and hold off the Bay Cities F.C. Women.

Bay Cities F.C. Women will take the field on Sunday June 20th against FC Bay Area. This game will be a friendly and closed to the public.

Captain Sam Tran on her thoughts of Game 1

“I thought it was a lot of fun! It was really the group’s first real game together with a good 3 weeks of practice under our belt. Ultimately we just went out there and tried our hardest and controlled what we could. At the end of the day the result is only because of things we need to work on and if we were to play them again I know we would give them a good match.”

Player Jillienne Aguilera on Women’s Pro Soccer coming to her Hometown

“I love it, when I was really little I would watch FC Gold Pride when they were in the area and I loved being able to see Women’s soccer at the professional level and I think it is so so important because of how many really good Women’s players go play college and can go pro in the Bay Area and it is so important to bring back a team for these Homegrown players.”

Coach Jason Brown on Whether there is one player taking on the role of inspiring the team

“I think each and every one of them, I think they all inspire each other and thats the great thing. I think there’s no ego’s in the changing room, there is just girls who want to work hard and enjoy the game.”
